Renee I. Pitzele, MD
Primary Care Physician
Dr. Pitzele, a board certified physician with the American Board of Family Practice, joined Family Medical Center in February of 2007. She received a Medical Doctor Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree (with honors in genetics) from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where she also studied at the McGill Cancer Research Unit. In Canada, while in private practice for 18 years as a primary care family physician, she also delivered babies, did shared obstetrical care, and assisted surgeons in the operating room. When she moved to Georgia 10 years ago she worked for the Emory Clinic as an assistant professor, seeing patients and teaching physician assistant and nurse practitioner students. Dr. Pitzele has over 27 years experience as a family physician and treats a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, and also offers preventive healthcare by performing male and female annual physical exams, gynecological exams, and sports physicals. Her vast knowledge of medicine, coupled with her professional and caring demeanor make her the ideal family physician.
John E. Simms, PA-C
Physician's Assistant
John Simms, the physician assistant at Family Medical Center, has been with us since our opening in February 2004. Mr. Simms received his Physician’s Assistant Certification in Springfield, Missouri, and also received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. For thirty years now, he has made his career in medicine, providing quality healthcare in family practice, occupational medicine, emergency medicine, neurology, and rehabilitation. His past experience includes performing medical exams for physician researchers at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. At Family Medical Center, he works closely with our physician to treat a variety of illnesses and conditions, and also performs detailed annual physicals. His extensive training, broad base of experience and personable demeanor make him an essential member of our practice.
Jasmine A. Khan, CMA
Certified Medical Assistant
Jasmine Khan, a medical assistant with Family Medical Center since July of 2008, came to us from Hawaii where she worked as an assistant at the Tripler Army Medical Center. Jasmine received an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Medical Assisting from Heald College, located in Honolulu. She is also CPR certified with the American Heart Association. She assists our physician and physician’s assistant with providing professional, high quality patient care, and helps to manage patient issues quickly and efficiently, always making the patient a priority. She also assists our office manager with many day-to-day administrative duties. Her enthusiasm and desire to learn, clinically and administratively, make her an invaluable asset to Family Medical Center.
Andrew M. LeClair, DC
Director of Therapeutic Services
Dr. LeClair, a 1994 graduate of Life University, has been a practicing chiropractor for over 13 years. He has been with Family Medical Center since its opening in February of 2004, and helped to develop the practice’s overall therapy program. Dr. LeClair consults with our medical staff and other therapy team members to establish a customized care plan for each individual patient. Our medical professionals and therapists, as a cohesive team, treat numerous injuries, many of which are caused by work, auto or sports accidents. This team approach to treating musculoskeletal pain addresses the issue(s) efficiently and effectively, thus accelerating healing.
Courtney M. Hancock, MPT
Physical Therapist
Courtney Hancock, Family Medical Center’s physical therapist, joined our therapy team in March of 2006. Courtney graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996 and received a Master’s of Physical Therapy in early 1999. She provides adult and pediatric therapy, offering treatment for sports, work and auto accident related injuries. She treats a variety of sports related injuries, and has received specialized training for golf and tennis injuries. She works closely with our chiropractor and massage therapist to provide the most beneficial therapy plan possible for our patients.
Renee D. LeClair
Practice Manager
Renee LeClair, the practice manager, has been with Family Medical Center since it opened in February of 2004. Renee came to us after 11 years with the American Cancer Society National Home Office in Atlanta, where she served as the manager of the Chief Executive Officer’s office. At Family Medical Center, Renee assists with and manages all administrative aspects of the practice. She works hard to ensure that your experience at our practice is a positive one, and that you are treated with courtesy and professionalism.
